Metallica approached whiskey-making the same way they’ve always approached music. They push to create something original and better. They work only with the kind of collaborators who share their uncompromising commitment to quality. And they pour their souls into it day after day until they’ve made something that’s truly special.
“We didn’t just set out to make BLACKENED Whiskey different from others; we set out to make it the best. We didn’t set out to sell a whiskey based on the name we’ve made in music. We set out simply to make some of the best whiskeys available. Period. BLACKENED is a whiskey that would rank among the best with any name on it. And that’s the only way we were going to put the Metallica name on it.”
Full Speed Or Nothing
Formed in 1981 by vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, Metallica has become one of the most influential and successful rock bands in history, selling nearly 120 million albums worldwide and generating more than 15 billion streams while playing to millions of fans on all seven continents.

Metallica’s concerts have long been synonymous with groundbreaking technical and artistic achievements. A key contributor to their success is their collaboration with Meyer Sound, renowned leaders in audio technology. Together, they have continuously pushed the boundaries of large-scale audio production, delivering unforgettable experiences to fans worldwide.Through their ongoing collaboration with Meyer Sound, Metallica has consistently raised the bar in terms of technical excellence and artistic expression. Their concerts stand as a testament to the power of innovation and the pursuit of perfection in the realm of live audio production.
During Metallica’s “World Magnetic Tour” from 2008 to 2010, their partnership with Meyer Sound took their signature low-end sound to new heights, achieving enhanced sonic depth and power. Notably, a unique central subwoofer cluster was introduced for arena shows in the round, ensuring consistent and robust audio coverage throughout the venue.
On the “WorldWired Tour,” Metallica and Meyer Sound embarked on another groundbreaking endeavor. They collaborated to develop the world’s first sub-sonic loudspeaker capable of recreating explosive sensations without compromising the safety of the band or the audience. This innovation allowed Metallica’s music to be felt as much as it was heard, immersing the crowd in an unparalleled audio experience.
In 2017, Metallica established its charitable foundation, All Within My Hands, to give back to communities that have supported the band. To date, All Within My Hands and Metallica have provided nearly $16 million in grants to career and technical education programs, organizations combating food insecurity, and critical local services and disaster relief efforts. As part of the 2022 release of BLACKENED Whiskey’s Masters of Whiskey Series, Metallica and All Within My Hands matched BLACKENED’s donation of $25,000 to Team Rubicon, making a total donation of $50,000. This donation directly served the communities in Kentucky, who are recovering from 2021’s devastating tornadoes.
